Escalade’s Improving Margins Power Profit Gain


Net income in the final quarter increased 6% to $2,864,000 from $2,704,000 despite 9% lower sales of $65,506,000 against $72,136,000 as growing basketball and indoor games sales were more than offset by other categories. Direct-to-consumer outperformed, growing 39% in Q4. Gross margin expanded 192 basis points to 24.3%, helped by pricing, sales mix and lower freight and distribution costs compared to the year before.
