Sporting Goods Imports Flatten In Q2, China Slide Moderates


Buoyed by the Supreme Court ruling that the Trump Administration’s IEEPA tariffs were illegal, industry imports slowed their recent freefall, declining by less than 1% to $5,773.7 million in Q2 from $5,805.4 million last year. Athletic footwear slipped 5% to $1,886.6 million from $1,991.9 million, and sports apparel was also down slightly to $730.1 million from $737.9 million. Equipment imports increased by almost 3% overall to $3,157.0 million from $3,075.6 million, with winter sports and exercise equipment lower while all other categories gained.
