Sneaker Imports Grow in Q3, but Apparel and Equipment Drop
Industry imports of footwear, apparel, and equipment contracted 4% in the third quarter to $5,484.5 million from $5,707.9 million a year before, the ITC revealed after a substantial delay due to the government shutdown. Actual tariffs, along with the threat of tariffs, compelled many companies to pull forward shipments to mitigate risk, and declines in apparel and equipment more than offset continued strength in athletic footwear.
