SFIA Finds 250 Million Americans were Active Last Year


Americans’ activity trends are skewing in the right directions as participation hit an all-time high while inactivity levels are at record lows, according to SFIA’s 2026 Topline Participation Report. Team sports continued their post-lockdown ascent, pickleball is still posting double-digit gains, and core participation began to hold steady after years of decline. Last year, 250.0 million Americans ages six and older participated in at least one activity, up 1% over 247.1 million in ‘24. The participation rate increased 50 b.p. to the record 80.5%.
