Rugged Footwear Market Slides Further in 2024
Branded rugged outdoor footwear sales tallied a second consecutive year of contraction after their pandemic-driven surge, falling 4.5% in U.S. dollars last year to $6,025 million from $6,311 million. Based on our research with input from the Outdoor Industry Compass on European brands, the U.S. market tumbled 11.1% to $2,626 million, while Rest-of-World sales were up 1.2% to $3,399 million. By our estimates, Salomon was the only brand to post significant overall growth, but even Amer Sports’ high-flying rugged brand declined slightly in the difficult U.S. market.
