Retail Container Traffic Will Be Flat in Jan.
The slow season for cargo shipments has begun, but forecasts indicate that retailers will be stocking up again in the spring ahead of an anticipated moderate recovery as the year progresses, according to the National Retail Federation. In Nov., U.S. ports handled 1.25 million TEUs, up 1.2% year-over-year but down 2.1% from Oct.’s level. Dec. retail container imports were estimated to be up 5.9% y-o-y to 1.21 million TEU.
