No China Tariff Relief Coming: Yellen
Section 301 tariffs on imports from China will remain a part of the economic landscape for the foreseeable future based on comments from U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, following a recent visit to Beijing. Speaking to reporters ahead of a G7 summit in India last week, Yellen called for long term de-escalation in the trade war but that scrapping tariffs would be a “premature” move as “concern with unfair trade practices on China’s side” which drove the implementation of the Trump-era measures still remains.
