It depends on whom you ask. If your customer is living paycheck to paycheck, you just came through a bruising Holiday season that was marked by heavier than expected promotional activity, especially at the end. On the other hand, if your customer is affluent and is indulging in the new frugality of affordable luxury, you just came through a pretty good season. Sure, everyone had a problem in outerwear because of the uncooperative weather, but that was really an isolated category. Just about everything else sold through pretty well.
