Holiday Spending to Top $1.7 Trillion, ICSC Finds


Shoppers will find ways to make their Holiday 2026 spending happen despite macro headwinds, according to ICSC’s Holiday Intentions Survey, which forecasts 4.3% to 4.9% retail sales growth to over $1.7 trillion for the season. The firm’s Sep. 21-23 survey found 88% of U.S. adults will make seasonal purchases this year, with 78% planning their spend at flat or above ‘25. The top line will be bolstered by the top 10% of shoppers, who are budgeting 5X above the average respondent.
