Deloitte’s picture for Holiday 2025 is looking bleaker than some other preliminary forecasts, with the highest consumer recession fears since its tracking began in 1997, as average consumer spend is guided down 10% to $1,595 from $1,778. Retail spending is expected to tumble 14% to $902 from $1,043, and experiential spending to decline 6% to $694 from $735. Last year’s retail result was a 2% improvement from $1,020 in ‘23, which was up 16% over the supply chain crisis-impacted results of $880 in ‘22.
