Back-to-School Spending to Contract, Survey Finds
Back-to-school budgeting is averaging down in the low-single digits for 2025 as shoppers become more value-minded and spread dollars across the season compared to last year’s July pull forward, according to Deloitte’s 2025 Back-to-School Survey. Based on responses from 1,203 parents over May 21-30, the average spend per child stands at $570 for ‘25, down 3% from $586 in ‘24.
