Adidas’ New Penn State Deal Raises Questions
Adidas’ new 10-year uniform sponsorship deal with Penn State has been caught in storm clouds descending on Happy Valley, as allegations of improprieties in the contract were quickly followed by controversy over the firing of coach James Franklin last weekend. The school and Adidas confirmed Sep. 5 that a “transformational” deal had been inked with an effective date of July 1, ‘26. The Three Stripes will take over as the official footwear, uniform, apparel, and sideline partner, a role held by Nike since ‘93.
