Academy Sports Widens Outlook on Tariff Risks


Net income tumbled 40% in the first quarter to $46,084,000 from $76,465,000 a year ago, on revenues that inched down 1% to $1,351,409,000 from $1,364,220,000 as new stores partially offset a -3.7% comp. Sales at those new locations that are now in the comp base were up low-single digits. E-commerce increased 10% and topped 10% penetration for the first time. After a slow start in Feb. hurt by cold weather, comps improved sequentially in Mar. and then turned positive in Apr. Transactions were down 5.2% and ticket increased 1.5%.
