The global sneaker market rose a strong 9.4% in 2017 to $63,223 million from $57,783 million with the U.S. market showing a 4.1% gain to $23,269 million from $22,355 million and the international market leaping 12.8% to $39,954 million from $35,428 million.
Net income leapt 46% to $160,358,000 from $109,889,000 in VF’s new fiscal first quarter ended Jun. 30 on 23% higher revenues of $2,788,146,000 vs. $2,268,620,000, boosted by strong gains in DTC, international and the skyrocketing Vans brand.
Parent Vista Outdoors tapped Williamson, a marketing veteran whose experience includes stints as CMO of Arctic Cat and president of Stanley Black & Decker and Pfister Faucets, to lead the hydration brand.
