The list of proposed Chinese made products that would be subject to 25% in additional duties excluded apparel, footwear and sporting goods products as well as other consumer products, but products with an estimated trade value of $50 billion in machinery, medical devices, flat screen TVs and transportation goods were targeted in the initial list by the Trump Administration. The owner of 3.8% of Newell had backed off of its proxy fight to oust the board last week after Newell management struck a deal with investor Carl Icahn, owner of about 7%, which gave Icahn the right to name several board members in key positions.
