Moosejaw Takes Industry to Task over Walmart Pushback
A letter from Eoin Comerford argues that the outdoor industry’s words about striving to be more diverse and inclusive would carry more weight if it were more open-minded in its response to Moosejaw’s online store hosted on Walmart.com. “We recognize the relatively low participation by women and minorities in outdoor activities, so we create slick marketing campaigns and trumpet our moderate successes. And yet the industry remains predominantly male and remarkably white. If we’re going to grow this industry beyond its exclusionary, historical norms, we need new audiences … younger, more female, more diverse.”
