The Yes Men, an activist group that works to get corporations to pay more attention to environmental and social issues, sent out two e-mails yesterday purporting to be Adidas announcements of a Cambodian union leader as co-CEO and a new apparel line inspired by factory workers. The releases came from an e-mail address at “adidas-group.news” which deceived a number of industry news outlets including WWD, Just Style and Fashion United into covering their content as genuine. Adidas later confirmed that the releases were not from the company.
