The domain name will be added to the existing Shoebuy.com business that Walmart bought as its first effort to combat Amazon through its Jet.com acquisition. Walmart did not acquire any of the other assets of the defunct Canadian e-tailer, and told Footwear News that it plans to make Shoes.com the “gold standard” of online footwear retailing, a title currently held by Amazon’s Zappos unit.
