Walmart Acquires Moosejaw for $51 Million in Cash


The deal includes a large online presence as well as 10 stores in the Upper Midwest. Walmart indicated that it planned to operate Moosejaw as a stand alone business, likely to give comfort to Moosejaw’s many branded partners that the acquisition will not result in their products leaking into the discount chain. Moosejaw CEO Eoin Comerford will remain with the company under Walmart, and he will also oversee the outdoor category for Walmart.com. The chain said putting a brand on Walmart’s newly-acquired Jet.com website is a decision that will be made by the brands.
