Following a teleconference in which UT Governor Gary Herbert was unresponsive to industry concerns raised by officials from Outdoor Retailer, OIA, Patagonia, The North Face and REI, Outdoor Retailer said it will eliminate the state from consideration for future show locations. The core issue here has been the governor’s stance advocating transfer of protected federal lands to the states, where they could be repurposed or sold to private interests at the states’ whim.
