Senate Crafting Bi-Partisan Gun Control Bill
Following last week’s passage in the House of a very ambitious gun control bill, a bi-partisan group of Senators are working to put forward a much more limited effort, which appears to have a good chance of becoming law. The Senate coalition includes 10 Republicans, ensuring that the bill can get past a filibuster, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has pledged to back the bill if it reaches the lower chamber. While it falls well short of President Biden’s aspirations, he has endorsed the bi-partisan approach and would likely sign the measure if it reached his desk.
