The defeat of the repeal effort of the Affordable Care Act would have been a double win for backers of the PHIT Bill, as health care reform would have been a convenient place to attach a bi-partisan amendment like PHIT and the savings from the Republican health care bill would also have supported a large reduction in corporate taxes. However, PHIT backers are confident that Republicans remain motivated to pass legislation of some kind that will support the PHIT Bill and the expansion of eligible expenses from Health Savings Accounts will be part of this Congress’s efforts this year.
