Perry Ellis Has Loss against Profit in Q2
Hit by the costs of avoiding the clutches of the Randa offer and a few other items, Perry Ellis reported a loss of $3,265,000 against income of $979,000 for the three months ended Aug. 4 on a 4% decline in sales to$189,338,000 from $198,394,000. Costs associated with restructuring and related to the board’s decision to sell the company to founder George Feldenkreis totaled $7.6 million. PERY said sales were essentially flat adjusted for the loss of sales to bankrupt Bon Ton and the transition of the Laundry brand to a licensing model.
