Pentagon Assessing Using Fitness Trackers


After the revelation by an Australian student that fitness trackers synchronized with the Strava app, one of many on the market, can easily be located, the Pentagon is studying whether it will change its security policies. Among other things, the Strava data can be used to find special operations forces in remote locations. Some commanders already either prohibit use of fitness trackers or require that the setting disable GPS. The Pentagon said it was looking into revising its rules on security setting.
