Obituary: Gib Ford


The former chairman and CEO of Converse died Jan. 10 from pulmonary fibrosis. He was 85. Gib spent 35 years until 1996 with Converse, the last 10 of them leading the company. Prior to that, he held senior positions in sales and marketing. He started at Converse after an illustrious career in basketball, leading a University of Texas team and then as a member of the Gold Medal winning U.S. Olympic team in 1956.
