The National Retail Federation sees growth of 3.7-4.2% in retail sales for 2017, led by 8-12% growth in online growth, but cautions that potential fiscal policy changes could impact the consumers and the economy. “Lawmakers should take note and stand firm against any policies, rules or regulations that would increase the cost of everyday goods for American consumers,” CEO Matt Shay said. The forecast 2017 growth rate at the top end of the range would match that of 2014 as the biggest increase since exiting the 2008 Recession.
