NPD Says Adidas Passed Jordan in U.S.
Its August data finds that Adidas’ share of the U.S. sneaker market has risen to 13% and topped Brand Jordan while still remaining behind Nike. This continues a trend that has been evident all year, as in May, NPD said Adidas had doubled its share from 6.3% to 11.3% while Nike’s share slipped to 34.7% from 35.9% and Jordan share dipped to 11.8% from 14.8%. The overall market in Aug. was off 0.5% to $1.84 billion from $1.85 billion with men’s up 1% to $860.5 million, women’s up 3% to $45463.2 million and kids’ down 2% to $532.4 million. Sales ...
