Now Trade Pundits Say U.S. May Drop Tariffs on China


In the same week that the U.S. cancelled lower level trade talks because of a lack of progress on intellectual property issues that divide them, the Wall Street Journal is now saying that the U.S. may be prepared to drop tariffs altogether as an incentive for the Chinese to make concessions. The Administration has for some time been divided between trade hawks and doves, with President Trump generally favoring the hawks. However, his appetite for some kind of deal may be getting the better of him now because of all the other issues confronting his administration.
