Nike, Puma Vow to Fight Climate Change
The companies are signing on to the United Nations’ Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action, which calls for a 30 percent reduction in aggregate greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and a vision to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. Those emissions reduction targets were approved by the Science Based Target initiative toward reducing greenhouse gas emissions sufficiently to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement, which aims to limit global warming to below 2°C above pre-industrial levels. The Charter was introduced at the UN Climate Conference in Poland last year.
