Nike, Flex End Partnership on Joint Plant
The Eager Beavertons and engineering powerhouse Flex quietly ended their partnership at the end of 2018 in Guadalajara, Mexico, saying the agreement to terminate the venture was mutual and Flex said it would re-purpose the plant to something other than footwear. “The company has worked hard with Nike to make the footwear manufacturing operations in Mexico technically and commercially successful,” read a statement issued by Flex. “In recent weeks, however, it became clear that the company would be unable to reach a commercially viable solution.” Flex added that it would have about $30 million in exit costs from the venture ...
