NCAA Asks Court to Approve Concussion Settlement
The final deal with a class of four million current and former student athletes was reached after years of negotiations as various subclasses have raised objections, and sweetens the total pot to $75 million from the original $70 million. The additional $5 million will pay for concussion research and updating the NCAA’s concussions guidelines. The original agreement was reached in 2014 and was modified in July 2016 to essentially its final form, with the final objection last month from female lacrosse players having been resolved.
