Judge Won’t Dismiss Academy Sports Mass Shooting Suit


San Antonio, TX, District Court Judge Karen Pozza denied without explanation Academy’s motion to dismiss a lawsuit filed by victims of the Sutherland Springs mass shooting that accused the retailer of negligence for selling a gun to the perpetrator. In most cases, the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act shields manufacturers and retailers from liability when guns they manufactured or sold are used to commit crimes.
