Judge Approves Fitbit Settlement, but Not Lawyers’ Fees
U.S. District Court Judge Susan Illston signed an order authorizing the $33 million settlement negotiated in Jan. between the device maker and a class of shareholders who had sued after FIT’s share price dropped on news of the inaccuracy of its fitness bands’ heart rate monitoring. But she put the brakes on the $8.25 million in legal fees the lawyers wanted, commenting that that sum “might be a little rich,” and also asked for an itemization of almost $250k in expenses they requested.
