Net loss was $4,956,000 against income of $589,000 in the seasonally small fiscal fourth quarter ended Sep. 28 on 1% lower sales of $91,132,000 vs. $91,755,000. Gross margin edged up 100 basis points to 43.4%, but $2.6 million of additional SG&A for digital investments hurt profits. Fishing was the only positive category in JOUT’s final quarter, with sales increasing 6% to $54.8 million and generating a 33% gain in operating income to $5.8 million.
