Himaraya Swings to Loss for Year
Comprehensive net income swung to an ¥811 million ($7.0 mm) loss from a profit of ¥1,323 million on revenues that contracted slightly to ¥72,056 million ($625.5 mm) from ¥72,360 million. Revenues beat the Japanese retailer’s lowered guidance, which was revised after the Kumamoto earthquakes. Profits were hurt by 200 basis point lower gross margins at 36.1% on deeper discounts to clear merchandise as well as a one time ¥793 million impairment charge from the earthquakes.
