Gun Makers Release Required Safety Reports


Sturm, Ruger and American Outdoor Brands pushed back, as expected, on most of the points raised by shareholder resolutions that required a report on gun safety and business risks that was passed at each company’s 2018 annual meeting. Each issued a detailed report that was a carefully constructed defense of their current safety records and compliance with federal, state and local regulations. They argued that existing safety mechanisms, government regulations and education efforts are effective in preventing the unauthorized use of firearms.
