Golf Industry Giant Wally Uihlein to Retire


Acushnet’s chief since 1995, who spent over 40 years there in all, will step down on Jan. 1 as the longest-serving golf company CEO, leaving behind a strong legacy that apexed with GOLF’s IPO last year. Uihlein started with the company as a Titleist sales rep in 1976 under Fortune Brands ownership. When he took the helm two decades later, Acushnet consisted of the core Titleist brand, Pinnacle, and FootJoy, which had been acquired from General Mills in 1985.
