Genesco Maps Future in the “New Normal”
Using a term we’re hearing more frequently, Genesco said it expects to have significantly fewer stores in the U.S. five years from now while doubling the size of its digital business in a fireside chat discussion at the Baird conference. But GCO reiterated from the Q1 earnings conference call that it prefers to keep marginal stores open in struggling malls, adding that some malls just can’t support its concept no matter how low the rent and that it would exit those locations.
