The school newspaper, The Daily Kansan reported that the FBI declined to release documents pertaining to the school’s basketball program following a Freedom of Information request because of an ongoing investigation. The existence of documents doesn’t prove wrongdoing, but does contradict statements by Kansas officials to the effect that they had not been contacted by the FBI. At stake is a 14-year, $191 million sponsorship deal, the largest in Adidas’ history for an NCAA team, that university officials said is now being re-examined in light of the investigation into bribery of basketball players to attend certain schools.
