Concussion Update: NCAA, NHL, NFL
The NCAA agreed to an undisclosed out-of-court settlement to settle a lawsuit brought by the widow of Greg Ploetz, a star at the University of Texas from 1968-72 who died of CTE in 2015, according to Sports and Entertainment Law Insider. The NCAA settled the case after three days of trial, averting what could have been an important precedent if the jury ruled in favor of the plaintiff. The NCAA has already agreed to pay $70 million to a brain trauma trust to settle similar lawsuits.
