Net income inched up 2% to $2,578,000 from $2,535,000 on a 4% improvement in sales to $240,407,000 against $231,150,000 for the 13 weeks ended Jun. 28 with a comp store gain of 1.7%. This year’s results included charges of $1.1 million related to the proxy fight that the company settled with its investors prior to the annual meeting. Last year’s results included an impairment charge of about $800,000.
