Recruited from Mitsubishi after a 38-year career there, Hirota will take over day-to-day management of Asics on Mar. 29 as president and COO, while Motoi Oyama will remain CEO and chairman of the board. Oyama became president of Asics in 2008, and was appointed chairman in Mar. 2017. At Mitsubishi, Hirota held various executive posts in human resources, operations and administration, and was most recently EVP and corporate functional officer, in charge of its regional strategy for Japan.
