WOLVERINE POSTS STRONG Q1 RESULTS, SEES RISING CONFIDENCE.


Net income grew 162% to $27,459,000 from $10,495,000for the 12 weeks ended Mar. 27 and Q1 revenues were nearly 12% higheryear-over-year at $284,897,000 versus $255,324,000 as WWW experienced revenuegrowth in all four of its group segments. Outdoor, which includes Merrell andPatagonia, paced the gains with a 16% revenue gain to $113.5 million. Grossmargins grew 100 b.p. to 41.3% and the company had a 30% increase in y-o-ybacklog at Q1 end as period end inventories were down 22% y-o-y to $171.8million. ASPs improved mid single digits.
