WINTER SPORTS sales were off slightly


WINTERSPORTS sales were off slightly, SIA finds. For the Aug.-Nov.period, winter sport sales in the U.S. declined 1.65% to $652.0 million from$663.0 million at retail value. Unit sales were up 0.38% indicating modestprice deflation.Chain store sales fell 1.6% to $130.0 million, though they rose4.7% in Nov. In chain stores, equipment sales rose 1.7% to $42.3 million,including a 5.2% increase in alpine equipment to $20.4 million, a 3.6% declinein snowboard equipment to $21.0 million and a 28.8% increase ...
