U.S. SG EXPORTS RISE 4.7% IN CY00, REVERSE THREE-YEAR TREND.


Still, the annual export figure of $1.88 billion, ascompiled by the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association from U.S. CommerceDepartment data, is some 20% below the estimated $2.35 billion worth ofsporting goods that were exported in 1997. The gain in U.S. exports reflectedthe generally improved economic conditions in Canada and most of Europe, thoughAsia continues to lag behind, according to the SGMA. The value of the U.S.dollar was relatively strong in 2000, but may give ground in 2001, theorganization estimates.
