TIMBY LOSS GROWS 14% ON SALES DROP; NAMES N.A. VP/GM.


The net loss was $19,244,000 compared to $18,929,000for the period ended July 3 on sales of $179,702,000 compared to $209,916,000.North American sales fell 13% to $86.3 million; European sales fell 17% to$65.7 million; and Asia sales fell 12% to $27.7 million. By product category,footwear sales fell 11% to $127.0 million, apparel sales fell 25% to $47.2million and royalty/other rose 27% to $5.5 million. Comp store sales fell 8.2%domestically against an 8.0% decline last year for the quarter. Global retail compsdeclined 2.5% this year against a 1.1% decline last year.
