THE SPORTS AUTHORITY REJECTS GART OFFER.

TSA now says it is "committed to operating (its) business alone," though speculation abounds over whether the jilted Gart will mount a hostile takeover attempt for its big box rival. In view of the highly promotional Back-to-School season, it would take a miracle for Venator’s stock price, currently under $13, to reach $20.50 by Dec. 31, which would make the alternative deal for TSA possible.
