STRIKE AT CAP COMPANY COULD BE NEARING END.


New Era Cap Company and the Communication Workers ofAmerica have reached a tentative four-year contract agreement covering 330workers at the company plant in Derby, NY. A formal pact would end a nearly11-month-old strike at the facility. All picketing outside the manufacturingplant ceased late June 3 after the tentative deal was announced. The unionworkers are slated to hear details of the proposed contract, which is said toprovide higher wages and health insurance contributions, at a meeting June 6and formally vote on its passage June 21.
