SPECIALTY OUTDOOR SALES RISE 3% IN DEC., BUT FALL 4% IN 2009.


Specialty outdoor sales generated positive momentum inDec., which were bolstered by strength in apparel and footwear, according tothe monthly top line audit by Leisure Trends Group. But the outdoor specialtyretail segment of the market realized a 4% retail dollar sales decline in 2009to $2,055,350,000 versus $2,142,094,000 as units increased 3% but ASPs declined1%. Footwear sales at $334.8 million accounted for approximately 16% of channelsales, about equal with equipment accessories ($338.7 mm, 16%) but belowapparel ($1.2 billion, 59%).
