Net income increased 53% to $10,162,000 from$6,659,000 for the quarter ended Jul. 4 on an 8% sales hike to $278,771,000against $267,925,000. This year’s results included a gain of about $2.8 millionon the sale of Russell’s minority stake in Marmot to K2, which will be used tooffset expected losses from the Huffy acquisition and other investments.Excluding acquisitions, Russell’s sales rose 3% for the period, led bydouble-digit gains at Mossy Oak and Spalding. The company raised the lower endof its guidance for the year, saying it would have EPS of $1.45-1.60 ($50.1 mm)and sales of $1.26-1.30 billion.
